Sports betting and igaming supplier FSB has confirmed the appointment of Lisa Waterfield as its Director of Sales, North America. Waterfield has spent the last two years as a Business Development consultant for FSB but has now secured a promotion to ‘play a pivotal full-time role’ in leading FSB’s momentum in North America. Under her new remit, Waterfield will be charged with continuing FSB’s North American expansion, which so far includes partnerships in several US states and license approval in the newly regulated Ontario market. Ian Freeman, Chief Revenue Officer at FSB, said: “These are hugely exciting times for FSB in NorthAmerica as we continue to build new state and province partnerships across the region. The promotion of Lisa to a leadership role in the organization is testament to the instrumental part she has played in this story of momentum and growth over the last year.” Waterfield’s career has seen her gather over three decades of gaming experience, having spent time in senior sales roles with Aristocrat, WMS and Acres Gaming. Commenting on her new role, Waterfield added: “Working in a consultancy capacity for FSB over the last two years has been exhilarating and the opportunity to join the organization full time has always been an aspiration of mine. “The dual proposition of our world-class proprietary product offering and dynamic, talented North American team has been the fire behind our striking surge in the US and Canada over the last 12 months. This growth journey will continue and I feel immensely excited to be playing a full-time role in it.” Waterfield spoke to SBC Americas back in April to discuss the role that tribal gaming plays in the supplier’s growth over the last few years. Freeman added: “Lisa is a fantastic addition to our North American Business Development team which is led by Mike Van Ermen. Her comprehensive industry experience and mastery of building and nourishing client relationships have enabled us to form powerful partnerships in the US and Canada. “I’ve no doubt that she will be integral to the realization of our goal of becoming North America’s leading tier-one service provider in the B2B sports betting and icasino segment.”

New Jersey Budget Makes Horse Racing Purses Whole Again New Jersey’s 2023 fiscal year budget, signed into law last week by Gov. Phil Murphy, includes a record $25 million purse subsidy for the state’s horse racing industry. “There was $15 million in the governor’s proposed budget for horse racing purses,” AJ Sabath, a longtime lobbyist for the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey, explained to NJ Online Gambling. On Thursday, the lobbyist group Californians for Tribal Sovereignty and Safe Gaming held an online press conference during which Chairman Daniel Salgado of the Cahuilla Band of Indians stated that tribal sovereignty and self-determination will be at risk should the proposition pass. Here, it was reported that FanDuel was “re-evaluating the use of terms like ‘risk free’ in its advertising promotions targeting new customers.” Shortly thereafter, on Sports Handle and other affiliated websites, the “risk-free” language in FanDuel’s promotions vanished, replaced by the phrase “no sweat.” Hence, rather than a risk-free bet, new customers are now offered a “$1000 No Sweat First Bet” — a shift that’s drawn measured praise from responsible gambling advocates and researchers who’ve long held that labeling such wagers “risk-free” was dangerously misleading, if not plainly inaccurate. What if your mobile sports betting app could factor in all that information and use it to personalize and streamline the betting process? What if the day before the Eagles’ opener against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 11, the first thing showing up on your app’s screen isn’t a long list of different sports, but the option to bet the over/under on DeVonta Smith’s receptions in Sunday’s game?
