PokerStars has agreed to a historic deal with one of the NHL’s most storied teams.
The online poker site operator announced on Tuesday a new partnership with the Philadelphia Flyers marking the franchise’s first deal with a poker brand. The partnership makes PokerStars an official sponsor of the Flyers and includes fan-centric activations. PokerStars will collaborate with the Flyers to provide its players with exclusive signed memorabilia and the opportunity to win tickets to games at Wells Fargo Center.
PokerStars will also have a branding presence at the Flyer’s home arena since 1996. The online gambling site provider will also be included in TV spots during Flyers broadcasts.
“We are thrilled to partner with such a beloved hockey team,” said PokerStars North America Senior Director of Commercial Rob Battista. “Hockey fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and we can’t wait to collaborate with the team to bring exciting tournaments and rewards to our communities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.”
The Flyers partnering with PokerStars comes after a previous deal with Betway. In 2021, Betway agreed to a partnership with the Flyers that included social media and TV branding.
PokerStars solidifies presence in sports
PokerStars’ deal with the Flyers adds to its growing list of partnerships in pro sports.
In 2022, the Flutter-owned brand reached a multiyear partnership with the Detroit Red Wings expanding its reach in Michigan. The deal made PokerStars an official sponsor of the Red Wings with the two entities providing fans with education on responsible gaming.
That same year, PokerStars teamed up with FanDuel for a partnership with Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors.
