The Social and Promotional Gaming Association (SPGA) is providing its operator members with a code of conduct to promote compliance and safety in gaming.

The SPGA has designed a code of conduct for its members that sets a foundation for regulatory standards and safe business practices by operators that offer social games and casinos, including promotional sweepstakes. The social gaming education provider has implemented a code of conduct as social casinos and sweepstakes soar in popularity.

According to data provided by the SPGA, Americans have spent more than $40 billion on social casino offerings in the last decade.

The SPGA’s conduct of conduct has four foundational pillars that its member operators are expected to adhere to. The pillars include age verification to limit real-money wagering to players 18 and older, proper identity verification, and geolocation verification of customers. The SPGA also mandates anti-money laundering policies for transaction monitoring.

“The pillars of the SPGA code of conduct highlight the technology and processes already in place at most social sweeps operators to ensure that the millions of adults who enjoy these games do so in a safe and reliable environment,” said SPGA spokesperson Camilla Wright of Red Knot Communications. “The standards of the code of conduct go above and beyond the accepted best practices for traditional social casinos.”

SPGA gets off the ground

The SPGA is asking its membership to adhere to a code of conduct after a group of sweepstakes companies teamed up in September 2024 to create the organization.

The SPGA was formed with 10 foundational members, which include Blazesoft, FSG Digital, 10 Ten Gaming, High 5 Entertainment, Gold Coin Group and others.

SPGA membership does not include VGW, the world’s largest social casino operator.
