Puerto Rico-based Casino Metro has announced the opening of its sportsbook with Caesars Sportsbook, “MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook”.

The MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook launch will bring retail sports betting to the casino’s guests, with plans to launch the operator’s mobile app in the new year, subject to regulatory approvals.

Under the terms of the agreement, the over 7,000 square foot sportsbook at Casino Metro in San Juan opens with three betting windows and 12 self-service betting kiosks, with plans to add more than 25 LED TVs and odds boards. It is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2023.

“We are proud to launch the “MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook” brand, at Casino Metro, generating more than 30 new jobs for our workforce,” commented Ismael Vega, General Manager of Casino Metro.

“The foray into the world of sports betting is a natural step for our operation, which has been characterized by constant innovation. Due to its complexity, as usual, we were immersed in a process of analysis and preparation to achieve it and we are proud to achieve this alliance with a giant like Caesars.”

Following the launch of a sportsbook at Casino Metro, MetroBets with Caesars Sportsbook plans to expand to reach more customers via other satellite wagering locations in local businesses throughout the commonwealth, as permitted by Puerto Rico law.

Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, added: “As we pursued sports betting in Puerto Rico under its unique framework, we wanted to align with the best possible partner that would provide deep, localized knowledge of the market. We found that partner in Casino Metro, which has a strong brand and customer base in the Puerto Rico market.”

The Puerto Rico Gaming Commission awarded sports betting licenses to seven companies last month – three sportsbooks and four service providers.

Alongside Caesars and Casino Metro, the other firms that were given licenses included Ballers Puerto Rico Sportsbook, Continent 8 Technologies PR, Liberman Media Group Gaming, Swish Analytics Puerto Rico, and US Integrity.
