Kindred Group plc will be launching its igaming and sports betting products in Ontario on day one of the market’s launch after receiving an igaming license from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) in the Canadian province.

Light & Wonder (previously known as Scientific Games) has also received an igaming supplier license from the AGCO for the Ontario market.

For Kindred, Ontario is its seventh license in North America for its flagship brand Unibet, the home of its sportsbook and igaming products.

Amanda Brewer, Country Manager Canada, Kindred Group, commented: “This is an exciting day and a significant milestone for both Kindred and Unibet. We are proud to have received permission to launch in Ontario on the first day the market opens and look forward to building long-term relationships with our customers and partners.

“The igaming market in Ontario is expected to be one of the largest in North America, which makes it a truly interesting proposition for Kindred.”

From market launch day on April 4, customers in Ontario will be able to use the Unibet sportsbook and igaming products via on.unibet.ca. The Apple Store and Google Play Store mobile apps will be available after the market launch day.

“Ontario is full of sports teams and passionate fans, which is no surprise given the history and popularity of the NHL, NBA, and MLB leagues,” Brewer continued.

“What makes Ontario unique is that thanks to its multicultural population matches within for example soccer, rugby, tennis, curling, and cricket are easily found. There will be no shortage of sports for fans to wager on when the market opens on 4 April. We are excited to provide fans with first-class products and experiences.”

As previously mentioned, Light & Wonder has also received an igaming supplier license from the AGCO for Ontario and will be launching in the market on April 4, its sixth regulated jurisdiction supplier license in North America.

Light & Wonder is now allowed to supply Ontario-licensed operators with its OpenGaming content aggregation platform, featuring igaming content of more than 2,500 games, marketing tools, integration ease, and responsible gaming tools.

Robert Hays, Light & Wonder’s Managing Director in the Americas, said: “We can’t begin to overstate how excited we are to be operating in Ontario, this is a market where our games have resonated with players for years and now to expand to the private sector is an incredible opportunity and fantastic milestone for the company.”

The range of Light & Wonder’s in-house developed games that operators will have instant access to include 88 Fortunes, Marvelous Mouse Coin Combo, Dancing Drums Explosion, and Chicken Fox 5x Skillstar, as well as releases from third-party game studios.

Kindred and Light & Wonder join a list of other operators and suppliers that have registered with the AGCO ahead of Ontario’s igaming market launch include PointsBet, theScore, 888, FansUnite, Bragg Gaming, Rush Street Interactive, Kambi, and LeoVegas.
