Sports Business Journal names Dr Laila Mintas as a Power Player

Dr Laila Mintas, chairwoman of the advisory board for US-based iGaming and sportsbook platform provider Bet.Works, has been named among the Sports Business Journal’s Power Players.

The Sports Business Journal provides coverage of the deals, trades, contracts and boardroom power plays that shape the rapidly changing sports landscape, and now sees Dr Mintas join under the category of Sports Betting Consultant, following her work in paving the way for legal sports betting in the USA.

Regarding Dr Mintas’ addition to its list of Sports Betting Power Players, the Sports Betting Journal released a statement which read: “As Deputy President of US operations for Sportradar at the time that PASPA fell, Mintas often was the first well-versed sports gambling expert that US league executives encountered, thanks to relationships the company built on the media and integrity monitoring sides.”

Having formerly held the role of Deputy President of US operations for Sportradar, Dr Mintas left the sports data analysts in December 2018 before joining Bet.Works as Chairwoman of the Advisory Board earlier this year in January.

Dr Mintas, who was commended for her work during and after the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) was repealed, commented on her inclusion as a Power Player: “It is a real honour to be included among Sports Business Journal’s Sports Betting Power Players for the work I have done prior to and after the repeal of PASPA.

“I have long believed that regulation is the best approach to sports betting in the USA and since the PASPA repeal have continued to work with industry stakeholders as the market rolls-out and mature as part of my position with Bet.Works.”

David Wang, CEO of Bet.Works, described Dr Mintas’ role in the success of Bet.Works, adding: “I am thrilled to see Laila recognized for the incredible work she has done to help with the process of legalizing sports betting in the USA and for the position the industry is in today whereby more and more states are regulating the activity.

“She has also played a key role in helping Bet.Works establish itself as a leading casino and sports betting technology provider in the market and for that reason alone her position on Sports Business Journal’s Power Player rankings is truly deserved.”
