PokerStars have teamed up with ex-World Series of Poker (WSOP) winner, and recent Poker Hall of Fame nominee, Chris Moneymaker, in a new multi-stop tour of the United States, awarding thousands of dollars worth of prizes along the way.
The ‘Moneymaker PSPC Tour’ is due to kick off on Saturday August 4 in California, and is designed to emulate Moneymakers triumph 15 years ago, which sparked the ‘Moneymaker Effect.’
Turning $86 into $2.5m, and beating 838 other players at the WSOP Main Event along the way, players across the US are to be afforded the opportunity to follow in his footsteps.
The Pokerstars ambassador is to give players the opportunity to win life-changing sums of money, by parlaying their initial $86 Moneymaker PSPC Tour buy-in into a Platinum Pass, worth around $25,000 dollars and giving entry to the PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC).
Regarding the tour Moneymaker, who devised this concept, stated: “It’s been 15 years since the big win and it only feels like yesterday. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and I want to give someone else the opportunity to feel that winning moment.
“I’ve played a lot of poker for years and during that time I’ve got to know lots of people at live events and meetups. Now U.S. fans will have the chance to win an amazing prize and have some fun along the way.
“Come join me to play, you never know, this could lead to a life-changing moment like I had. I am looking forward to playing with some familiar faces at every stop.”
Hitting card rooms at various locations, one online tournament is to also feature on PokerStarsNJ in September, with each stop awarding a series of cash prizes, and the winner scooping the all important Platinum Pass.
Giving away almost $300,000 worth of passes during the tour, Sacramento is to get things underway before concluding in Maryland in mid-August. The full tour schedule can be found below.
