bet365 now offers online sports betting in Washington, D.C., and does so as an official partner of three major pro sports teams in the U.S capital.
The British operator began taking bets across D.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 8. The District is the company’s 19th American market, adding to the 18 states in which it already offers betting. It most recently entered West Virginia, rolling out sports betting and online casino in that state in late August.
“Bringing bet365 to our nation’s capital expands our reach in the U.S. and establishes our presence in one of the country’s most dynamic sports markets,” said the company’s Head of Development Trip Stoddard.
bet365 will be available to users aged 18 and older in D.C.
bet365 strikes Washington sports partnerships
In a press release issued on Tuesday morning, the operator confirmed that it has struck an agreement with Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE) that makes it a partner of each of:
- the NBA’s Washington Wizards
- the NHL’s Washington Capitals
- the WNBA’s Washington Mystics
The operator will benefit from those relationships via branding at the Capitals’ and Wizards’ Capital One Arena and the Mystics’ CareFirst Arena, including virtual signage during Capitals games and pre-game and in-game commercials across Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics broadcasts.
bet365 will also be integrated into D.C. fan experiences across Monumental Sports Network (MNMT) and will be the presenting sponsor of Monumental Game Center, MNMT’s feature that allows viewers to opt in to view real-time sports betting odds and other overlays within live game streams for the Capitals, Wizards, and Mystics.
“Our partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment gives us an exciting opportunity to introduce bet365 to Capitals, Wizards and Mystics fans and build lasting connections across Washington, D.C.,” added Stoddard.
D.C. betting market expands again
bet365 is the seventh online sportsbook available across D.C., joining:
- BetMGM
- Caesars
- DraftKings
- Fanatics
- FanDuel
- theScore Bet (formerly ESPN Bet)
Previously a monopoly market under first Intralot’s Gambet platform and subsequently FanDuel, the D.C. Council voted in 2024 to open up the market and allow several approved and licensed sportsbooks to do business.
bet365’s fourth new market in last six months
bet365 is already available in D.C.’s bordering states of Maryland and Virginia, and added nearby West Virginia to its footprint last month.
D.C. is its fourth new North American market since April, after it launched both online sports betting and online casino simultaneously in three other jurisdictions:
- Michigan in April
- Alberta in July
- West Virginia in August
