Caesars Entertainment has leveled up its presence at New Jersey’s Monmouth Park by cutting the ribbon on a new standalone sportsbook at the racetrack.

Caesars and Monmouth Park officially opened the new trackside location on Friday. The sportsbook consists of 16,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor sports viewing space, a sweeping view of the racetrack, wall-to-wall video screens, more than two dozen self-service betting kiosks, an exclusive VIP area, a center bar and a Shake Shack. It offers both sports betting and parimutuel race wagering.

“It’s fitting to open this cutting-edge venue at Monmouth Park, where legal sports betting in New Jersey first launched, and add to its rich history,” said Caesars Digital SVP and Chief Development Officer Dan Shapiro. “With this investment, we are proud to continue to support horse racing in the Garden State. We expect that the new integrated sports wagering experience will draw new fans from the Jersey Shore and beyond.”

Latest sports betting milestone for Monmouth Park

As referenced by Shapiro, Monmouth Park has an esteemed history of sports betting. Its then-William Hill sportsbook was the venue that took the first legal sports wager in New Jersey after the repeal of PASPA in 2018. The sportsbook was rebranded under Caesars in early 2022 after Caesars’ acquisition of the U.S. assets of William Hill in 2021.

Monmouth Park racetrack was originally opened in 1946, houses 1,600 horses and hosts the million-dollar annual Haskell Stakes.

“We are so proud to partner with Caesars and delighted to offer fans this new state-of-the-art sportsbook,” said Monmouth Park racetrack operator Darby Development LLC’s CEO and Chairman Dennis Drazin. “This has been a long time in the making, and it’s satisfying to finally see it come to fruition as we continue the expansion of the Monmouth Park facility as a top entertainment and gaming destination in the State.”

Caesars keeps moving in New Jersey

As well as the Monmouth Park sportsbook, Caesars’ brick-and-mortar footprint in New Jersey also includes three casinos in Atlantic City under the Caesars, Harrah’s and Tropicana brands. It also offers online sports betting and online casino gaming statewide via its Caesars Sportsbook & CasinoCaesars Palace Online Casino and Horseshoe Online Casino platforms.

Earlier this year, it expanded its New Jersey operations by launching its second custom live dealer studio and its first in the Garden State, in Tropicana Atlantic City through a partnership with Evolution.

Caesars said at the time that its latest live studio rollout was part of a wider effort to merge its digital offerings with its established land-based brand identities.

What it won’t be doing is adding a new brick-and-mortar casino next door in New York. Caesars’ plan for a multi-billion-dollar Caesars Palace resort in Times Square was voted down in September after receiving pushback from the theatre industry, hospitality business owners and local residents.
