PrizePicks is continuing to expand its reach across California with a deal to become the official daily fantasy sports partner of the San Francisco Giants.
The DFS giant announced on Thursday a multi-year partnership with the MLB franchise that includes branding at Oracle Park, the Giants’ home since 2000. As part of its pact with the team, PrizePicks will have rotating signage throughout Oracle Park. PrizePicks also provides fans with a branded strikeout counter for each home strikeout by a Giants pitcher.
“The Giants are always looking for innovative ways to enhance the fan experience,” said Prize Picks CRO Jason Pearl. “Partnering with PrizePicks provides our fans with new ways to engage with us and deepen their connection to both the Giants and baseball.”
PrizePicks is offering fans the chance to win a $12,000 PrizePicks lineup when Giants pitchers combine for 12 strikeouts in a home game. The DFS operator is allowing fans to participate in the text-to-enter promotion that also includes tickets to a Giants home game.
PrizePicks’ deal with the Giants marks its second with an MLB team in April.
Earlier this week, the Atlanta-based company was named a DFS partner of the San Diego Padres. The deal marked PrizePicks’ first pact with a pro sports team in California.
The partnership sees PrizePicks have branding at the Padres’ home ballpark, Petco Park.
The DFS company has also celebrated its new partnership by providing baseball fans with a chance to win a free lineup. PrizePicks is offering its text-to-enter contest when the Padres score 10 or more runs at home. Winners receive a free $10,000 lineup and game tickets.
In addition to the Padres and Giants, PrizePicks also has a deal in MLB with the Atlanta Braves.
DFS operations in California
PrizePicks has established a footprint in the Sunshine State amid a lack of DFS rules.
California does not have explicit rules that legalize DFS allowing operators to conduct business in a grey area. The lack of DFS enforcement has led to requests from lawmakers to the state’s Attorney General to determine the legality and regulation of DFS.
The legality of DFS is based on whether contests are considered games of chance or skill. In California, the state’s gaming law doesn’t ban the offering of games of skill.
