Octoplay is primed for its first move into the U.S. iGaming market as it has secured a provisional license to supply games in Michigan.

The company, which provides a range of online slot games for operators, has a large European footprint in countries such as Italy and Denmark and also received its supplier license in the Canadian province of Ontario at the start of 2024.

Receiving approval in the Great Lakes State is a big milestone for the supplier, which hopes to begin to extend across the U.S. in the coming months.

“Obtaining the Michigan provisional license marks the beginning of our entry into the United States, a key market for our future growth,” said Chairman Gavin Hamilton. “We look forward to bringing our premium products and games to American players, starting in Michigan.

“While we’ve seen great success in European markets recently, our entry into the U.S. represents a new chapter for Octoplay. We’re committed to establishing a strong presence in the American iGaming landscape, leveraging our experience in regulated markets to deliver exceptional gaming experiences to U.S. players and operators.”

Octoplay was founded in October 2022 and develops online casino games and delivers them via its proprietary RGS platform.

Ocotoplay hopes to make splash in saturated Michigan market

By entering one of America’s three key iGaming markets, Octoplay will hope to compete with dozens of existing suppliers to grab a slice of one of the biggest online casino pies in the country.

At the last count, Michigan’s iGaming market made $196.7 million in gross gaming revenue in August 2024, the third-highest GGR it has ever recorded. Overall adjusted iGaming revenue was $176.9 million after the 10% in allowed deductions. Both of those revenue totals were up around 30% from last year.

Year-to-date, Michigan iGaming revenue is trending 24.8% higher than last year. The state has now taken more than $6 billion in all-time online gaming revenue.
