PointsBet unveils William Grounds as non-executive director

PointsBet has named former MGM Resorts Exec William Grounds as a non-executive director, adding significant gaming experience to its leadership group

PointsBet has named former MGM Resorts Exec William Grounds as a non-executive director, adding significant gaming experience to its leadership group. 

The Australian-American boasts years of senior leadership experience in the gaming industry and resides in Las Vegas, where he has managed multiple businesses.

Grounds was a non-executive director at MGM Resorts between 2013 and 2021, during which he helped to form the firm’s joint venture with Entain, BetMGM. Following BetMGM’s establishment, he provided ongoing governance and oversight of its strategy and execution as MGM aimed to attack the sports betting space following the repeal of PASPA

He was also the former President and COO of Infinity World Development Corp, an affiliate of Dubai World. There, he managed the group’s investment at CityCenter Resort & Casino Las Vegas in partnership with MGM. 

As well as a NED at Pointset, Grounds is a director at Consumer Portfolio Services and has been a director at s Fontainebleau Miami JV LLC, CityCenter Holdings LLC and Infinity World Development Corp.

He joins PointsBet at a time when the company seeks to expand its sportsbook offering across North America. Recently, it opened a new HQ in Ontario to spearhead its growth in Canada, whilst it also improved its product portfolio for the FIFA World Cup by introducing over 130 new live betting markets for its US players.
