Fantasy sports company Underdog has appointed problem and responsible gambling policy expert Brianne Doura-Schawohl as a consultant to bolster its responsible play efforts.

As a consultant, Doura-Schawohl will help Underdog with its responsible gambling initiatives, including internal policy development, creation and execution of strategic plans to increase problem gambling understanding, and making introductions to key stakeholders within states to show the brand’s responsible gambling commitments.

“I’m thrilled to be working with the incredible team at Underdog as we reimagine the fantasy sports experience,” commented Doura-Schawohl.

“With the company’s rapid growth and as it expands its offerings to new customers, it is critical that we uphold the highest degree of integrity while delivering users with a safe and reliable platform.”

Named as one of the Top 100 lobbyists in 2021 by the National Institute of Lobbying & Ethics (NILE), Doura-Schawohl has helped shape gambling legislation with over a decade of experience in advocacy, public policy, government, and communications.

Before starting her own consulting firm, Doura-Schawohl Consulting LLC, she worked for EPIC Risk Management as its Vice President of US Policy and Strategic Development, and for the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) as Legislative Director.

Doura-Schawohl also sits on the board of directors for Kindbridge Behavioral Health and holds a leadership role within the NILE Next Gen Executives committee.

“A guiding principle of Underdog is to deliver the necessary resources and guidance to our community to ensure a responsible fantasy sports experience,” added Jeremy Levine, President and Chairman of Underdog.

“Collaborating with a well-respected industry leader of Brianne’s standing will strengthen our efforts as we accelerate our future roadmap.”

As part of its responsible gambling commitment, Underdog has also partnered with BetBlocker, a charity that offers free blocking software for individuals to help them step away or manage their gambling.

BetBlocker users can apply a complete restriction on their access to online gambling websites and apps from anywhere between 24 hours and five years, as well as schedule when they would like to block their access to help combat times of known vulnerability.

The charity also offers Parental Control options to allow parents to restrict gambling content on shared devices.
