UK-based bookmaker Betfred has strengthed its US team with the appointment of gaming veteran Bryan Bennett as Chief Operating Officer for the country.
Betfred, the third biggest retail betting shop operator in the UK and self-styled largest independent bookmaker in the world, has ambitions to bring its sports betting expertise to the US market and exhibited at last month’s G2E show for the second year in a row.
The appointment of Bennett greatly strengthens the Betfred USA offer after four years at AGS Interactive and three years at RocketPlay before that.
Betfred Group Chief Operating Officer Mark Stebbings commented: “After a thorough process we have appointed Bryan Bennett as the Betfred Sports US Chief Operating Officer. Bryan has a wealth of experience and an exemplary track record.
“He shares our vision for our US operation and this appointment will help us achieve our goals in this exciting new market.”
Bennett added on social media how excited he was to be joining the company: “I’ll be leading Betfred’s expansion into the US retail and online sports betting market, and I cannot wait to get started working with Mark Stebbings, Stephen Crystal, Basil Hofer, Lou Damico, Andrew McLauchlan, and the entire Betfred team to tackle this huge opportunity.”
At a time when some industry veterans are bemoaning the European invasion triggered by the opening of the sports betting market, Betfred has made a smart decision to appoint Bennett to drive its US ambitions.
