DFS operator FanDuel has confirmed the signing this week of an exclusive new partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which it will become the Official Daily Fantasy Partner of the NFL team. The partnership is scheduled to run throughout the 2019/20 season.

Marking the team’s first deal with FanDuel, the fully integrated marketing agreement will prominently feature FanDuel at Heinz Field, and give the operator access to robust marketing assets ranging from LED and scoreboard video signage, to radio, television and digital advertising.

Highlighting the benefits of the link-up, Steelers Vice President of Sales & Marketing Ryan Huzjak said: “We’re excited to bring FanDuel into the fold as our Official Daily Fantasy Partner. We think Steelers fans will enjoy the FanDuel platform and the opportunity to compete for unique Steelers prizes.”

As part of the sponsorship FanDuel will offer unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for customers, including access to a fantasy camp event at Heinz Field. More information on the event will be announced in the coming weeks and months.

“We truly admire the historical franchise the Steelers have built, and Pittsburgh is an incredible sports town,” said Matt King, CEO, FanDuel. “Our Pennsylvania customers love their teams and their players, and by partnering with the Steelers, we’ll further deliver on our promise to further engage fans and meaningfully grow our brand.”

Commentary: Another day, another deal. Sport and betting continue to come together in the post-PASPA era, this time courtesy of FanDuel and the Steelers. It’s all highly encouraging, of course, but it will be interesting to see who really benefits from such deals, how they will benefit and by how much. Fan engagement seems to be the main objective and that can only be a good thing for sport and betting.
