The Massachusetts Lottery has rolled out its long-awaited online lottery product more than two years after it legalized the vertical.

The Bay State’s iLottery is powered by Aristocrat Interactive’s turnkey online lottery solution, providing players state with access to the market’s first online state lottery-backed platform and a portfolio of exclusive games.

“Today marks an important step forward in modernizing our operations and launching an exciting new iLottery offering that complements our industry-renowned retail program,” said Massachusetts Lottery Executive Director Mark William Bracken.

“We’re confident that our new iLottery program will elevate our player experience and allow us to further fulfil our mission of maximizing revenue returned to the Commonwealth, with online sales supporting early childhood education and care grants that will benefit families throughout Massachusetts,” he continued.

Aristocrat’s pathway to providing iLottery in MA

The launch completes a long road to an operational online lottery product in Massachusetts. After lengthy consideration of the idea of allowing iLottery, Gov. Maura Healey officially signed off on the plan when she approved a fiscal year budget in July 2024, which included a provision to legalize online lottery sales and eInstant games.

A year later, the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission (MSLC) awarded Aristocrat Interactive the contract to supply the technology and solutions for the state online lottery. The five-year agreement includes terms that allowed Aristocrat Interactive to enter Massachusetts on July 1, 2026. The deal also includes separate three-year extension options.

In the Bay State, online lottery is available to players aged 21 or older, with retail age at 18. According to the MSLC, there were roughly 350,000 verified lottery players in 2025.

The commission expects to generate $70m in revenue from online sales in year one. The estimates jump to $180m in year two, with year three at $230m. A previous estimate projected revenue in year one to reach $100m but after a series of delays due to funding needed to expand the vertical delayed the launch, the online sales projection was lowered.

Massachusetts Lottery offers range of eInstant games

Now, Massachusetts players can play lottery draw games and online slot-style eInstant games directly through the state lottery.

Through Aristocrat Interactive’s custom-built solution, the Massachusetts Lottery offers not only lottery ticket draw games but also exclusive games from its parent company’s intellectual property library, and a portfolio of more than 20 eInstants from Aristocrat Interactive’s in-house NeoGames studio.

Massachusetts Lottery products haven’t been entirely offline until now. Mobile lottery tickets were already available in the state indirectly, as several digital lottery couriers operate in the Commonwealth, including:

  • DraftKings-owned Jackpocket
  • Jackpot.com
  • Lotto.com

Still no online casino gaming in Massachusetts

The Bay State is embracing iLottery despite a recently failed effort to legalize iGaming.

In March, members of the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies pushed the pause button on an online casino bill, H4431. The committee voted 11-0 to refer H4431 for study instead of advancing it.

The online casino measure was initially filed in March 2025 by Rep. David Muradian as a measure that legalizes online table games, slots, peer-to-peer, and skill-based games. Under H4431, iGaming would be regulated by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission. Despite the measure being referred to study, Muradian plans to reignite the effort in 2027-28.

In the meantime, the Massachusetts Lottery now allows residents to play online eInstant games.

A milestone moment for Aristocrat Interactive in US

As for Aristocrat Interactive, the supplier is delivering its iLottery solution in Massachusetts through NeoGames, a publisher that it acquired in 2023 for $1.2bn. NeoGames is one of several companies that Aristocrat brought under one roof in 2024 with the launch of its Interactive segment.

“This is a milestone moment for Aristocrat Interactive, and the Massachusetts State Lottery as we deliver the first-ever online lottery offering for Massachusetts players,” said Aristocrat Interactive CEO Dylan Slaney. “We are proud to be partnering with the Massachusetts State Lottery, who is widely recognized as a global lottery leader.”

Aristocrat Interactive is also providing Massachusetts players with access to third-party content. The company is leveraging its Fusion aggregation platform to offer third-party iLottery games, while also supporting its responsible gaming and marketing services.
