A new entry into the highly competitive sports data space has secured rights to one of the major tennis tournaments.

Catalist Sports expanded its tennis catalog with rights to the Grand Slam event Australian Open, which gets underway on Jan. 12.

“The Australian Open is one of the biggest events in global sport, and we’re proud to bring its official data exclusively to the U.S. market,” said Catalist Sports Vice President & General Manager James Monk.

“The season curtain-raiser will unlock prime-time inventory and unmatched in-play potential, with American talents like Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Coco Gauff tipped to go deep into the second week in Melbourne.”

Monk took on the leadership role when the company launched in November 2025. He has plenty of prior experience in the data rights space, working with IMG Arena from 2018 to 2022.

So far, Catalist Sports has focused on primarily securing the rights of tennis events. In addition to the Australian Open, the company also holds the data rights for the Billie Jean Cup, Davis Cup and International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Tour.

The group is partnered with Infront Sports & Media as the exclusive reseller for the U.S.

Tennis is the focus, but other leagues within the Catalist Sports catalog include French Ligue 1 and Brazilian Serie A.

To date, Catalist Sports is licensed in 28 U.S. markets, including the recently launched Missouri.

Sportradar and Genius Sports are the two behemoths in the sports betting data business, but Catalist Sports and other smaller, niche operators such as Alt Sports Data and Pro League Network have shown that focusing on a specific section of the sports world can be a lucrative way for other data firms to compete.
