Playtech has made its debut in the US retail sports betting market via Ohio through a partnership with Gold Rush Gaming.
Under the terms of the agreement, Playtech will provide Gold Rush with its retail sports betting platform and management systems across Ohio.
Initially rolling out in over 50 retail locations, the launch is ready ahead of the Super Bowl this Sunday which is set to record $16bn in wagers, according to the AGA.
Gold Rush holds a Type-C license and has over 100 Type-C host locations across the Buckeye State in cities such as Cleveland, Cincinnati and Columbus.
Rick Heidner, Owner and Manager of Gold Rush, added: “We are very pleased to partner with Playtech and leverage our joint expertise to launch kiosks in Ohio, a new and exciting market.
“We are bringing innovative content and best-in-class software to new players across the state. Our partnership is going from strength to strength, and we look forward to more exciting moments for our growth across the US in the near future.”
This deal marks Playtech’s first entry into the retail sports betting market in the US after rolling out igaming technology in previous years.
It now means that Playtech has deployed over 60,000 sports betting kiosks across retail markets globally.
Marking its commitment to the US market, Playtech made a significant investment into a US-based studio to support its igaming output, but now the firm is committing to sports betting in the US.
Jonathan Doubilet, US MD & VP Operations, said: “Through this partnership, we will bring our extensive experience in retail sports betting to the US market for the first time. We’re confident that Ohio is the ideal place to start, leveraging our expertise and strong track record to deliver Self-Service Betting Kiosks across the state.
“We’re excited for this type of gaming to expand and look forward to introducing further products across the growing US market.”
