When Massachusetts launches online lottery next year, it will be powered by Aristocrat Interactive.

The Massachusetts State Lottery Commission (MSLC) has awarded its iLottery contract to the leading online lottery platform provider, which is Aristocrat Leisure Ltd.’s regulated online real-money arm that was formed in 2024 through a merger of Anaxi and NeoGames’ various owned businesses.

The contract begins on July 1, 2026, and will run for an initial five years, with three separate three-year extension options included.

Aristocrat Interactive will provide Massachusetts with a full-service online lottery platform, game content including eInstants and draw games, player account management systems and an aggregation platform for third-party game content. The supplier and the regulator will also work together on marketing and promotion, player promotions, compliance and responsible gaming.

MSLC Executive Director Mark Bracken said in a statement that of all the potential partners considered during its comprehensive and competitive procurement process, “Aristocrat Interactive demonstrated the best value for the Commonwealth.”

“We are extremely proud to be selected as the partner for MSLC after a highly competitive process,” added Aristocrat Interactive CEO Moti Malul. “We look forward to helping the MSLC deliver on its objective to expand player engagement through innovative and responsible online play, and further enhance their ability to contribute to and support local communities.”

Aristocrat Interactive works with numerous lotteries in North America. It launched iLottery in Massachusetts’ New England neighbor state of New Hampshire in July and also recently signed a six-year agreement with the Michigan Lottery to begin in July 2026. Via its joint venture with Canadian lottery giant Pollard Banknote, NeoPollard Interactive, it also runs lottery services for the governments of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Alberta.

Massachusetts confident delayed iLottery launch will reap reward

Aristocrat Interactive said in a statement that the Massachusetts Lottery is the U.S.‘s leading retail lottery on a per-capita basis and ranks third worldwide. The MSLC was given the opportunity to expand into online lottery when Bay State Gov. Maura Healey last year signed into law a 2025 budget that included a provision to allow online and mobile sales.

Bracken said at that time in July 2024 that he anticipated that iLottery would launch in late 2025, although that was later pushed back to spring 2026. It seems from the Aristocrat Interactive contract start date that it will actually be July 2026 at the earliest.

Bracken added last summer that there were already around 350,000 existing players verified on the lottery’s website. Although the minimum age for lottery sales in retail stores in Massachusetts is 18, online lottery players will have to be aged 21 or older.

The addition of online sales was initially projected to yield an extra $100 million in revenue per year for the MSLC, although state Treasurer Deborah Goldberg scaled down that estimate to $70 million for the first fiscal year to account for the delays. Year two is expected to bring in $180 million in state revenue, followed by $230 million in year two.

When it does eventually launch, in addition to online draw game tickets, Massachusetts players will be able to play eInstants, which bear a resemblance to online slot machines. In the meantime, Massachusetts players are able to purchase online lottery scratch tickets from several leading digital lottery couriers, including DraftKings-owned Jackpocket, Lotto.com and Jackpot.com.
