Two men’s college basketball players who are under investigation by the NCAA for alleged gambling violations reportedly played in daily fantasy contests involving the team.

According to an ESPN report, former Fresno State basketball player Mykell Robinson allegedly played in DFS contests based on his own performance for several games. Robinson, who was dismissed from the basketball program amid the probe, reportedly entered DFS contests that included his “under” markets for points and rebounds.

Fresno State’s Jalen Weaver is also being investigated for playing in DFS contests.

Weaver admitted to ESPN that he participated in a DFS contest in December 2024 for total points scored in a game against New Mexico. The Colorado native wagered $50 for him to score over 11 points on fantasy app Sleeper. Weaver scored 13 points in the contest.

“I just made a bad decision, and I shouldn’t even have gotten involved with that. Now, I’m obviously paying for it,” Weaver told ESPN. “I bet on a game I played in, but I never tried to sabotage the season. I never bet on us to lose, never bet my unders.”

Weaver was also recently dismissed from Fresno State.

Fresno State sophomore guard Zaon Collins is also being investigated by the NCAA and the university for allegedly wagering on professional sports. The NCAA’s gambling rules prohibit wagering by all players, coaches and team officials on all events sponsored by the organization. The gambling rules also apply to daily fantasy sports contests and pro sports.

Weaver remains on the Fresno State roster as the probe continues but is “being withheld from competition as the University reviews an eligibility matter,” according to the school.

Fresno State coach notices irregularities

Robinson, Weaver and Collins have been implicated in the alleged gambling issue after head men’s basketball coach Vance Walberg notified Fresno State of the alleged sports betting. The tip led Fresno State to initiate a probe leading to the NCAA’s investigation.

The Mountain West Conference, whose membership includes Fresno State, is also reviewing the gambling issue. Earlier this week, the conference issued a statement acknowledging it has been in communication with Fresno State as it reviews the matter.

Fresno State is in the midst of a 10-game losing streak, which started on Jan. 20. Last week, the team suffered a 72-69 loss to Air Force with only seven eligible players.
