Social gaming platform Fliff is entering the online sweepstakes casino business with the debut of a new product.

The Philadelphia-based social sports gaming company has diversified its offerings with the launch of Sidepot providing users in 39 states with access to a portfolio of iGaming titles. Fliff’s new casino product builds on its existing online sports sweepstakes model.

Sidepot hosts more than 600 in-house games and allows players to redeem Fliff Coins and Fliff Cash for real-money prizes through its sweepstakes but also provides non-cash play.

The offering also provides players with games developed by Playson and BGaming.

Class action lawsuit against Fliff

Fliff is providing its users with a new gaming experience after scoring a victory last year in a California court following a class action lawsuit challenging the legality of its sweepstakes sportsbook. The suit alleged Fliff of operating a de factor illegal sportsbook.

Fliff argued that a California court was not the proper venue for the case as the suit’s plaintiff agreed to the company’s terms and conditions that require matters to be taken to arbitration. A California judge would grant Fliff’s request to take the matter to arbitration.

Sweepstakes face nationwide scrutiny

Fliff made the decision to not launch Sidepot in several markets that have seen regulators take a stance against online casino companies. As of February 2025, Sidepot is not available in Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Michigan, Nevada and Washington.

In 2023, the Delaware Division of Gaming Enforcement ordered Virtual Gaming Worlds (VGW) to shutter the operations of its online sweepstake casino products.

VGW, owner of sweepstake sites Chumba Casino, Lucklyand and Global Poker, has also been ordered to cease operations of its sweepstakes in Michigan, Idaho and Washington.

The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection also sent a cease and desist letter to VGW in October 2024 accusing the world’s largest operator of sweepstakes casinos of conducting unlicensed gambling in violation of state gaming law and fair trade practices.

A month later, VGW’s Global Poker informed players that its sweepstakes offering in Nevada would no longer be available starting on April 15 amid regulatory scrutiny.

Sidepot is also not available in Alabama, Kentucky, Louisiana, Montana and Tennessee.
