The Arizona Department of Gaming released its sports betting revenue report for July this week. Of the $404 million in online wagers for the month, DraftKings and FanDuel were responsible for $272 million of it. They also accounted for roughly $30 million of the $41.2 million in gross gaming revenue.

DraftKings outpaced FanDuel in both handle and revenue with $146.4 million in wagers and $16.1 million in revenue. FanDuel posted $125.8 million in bets and $13.8 million in revenue.

The one category FanDuel did outpace DraftKings was free bets. FanDuel doled out $4.5 million in promotional credit, compared to nearly $2.8 million by DraftKings.

By and large, promotional spending coordinated with handle. BetMGM, Caesars and bet365 were 3-5 in both handle and promotional spending, but they were all a far cry from the two market leaders. It took only $47.7 million in handle for BetMGM to claim third place.

The month represented good growth for the state, as year-over-year handle was up 26.9%.

July represented the last month of revenue for SaharaBets, which shut up shop in July. Before closing its doors, the Alex Meruelo-backed operator took $80,633 in wagers and generated $790.51 in revenue.

Superbook also ceased taking bets in July. In its final month, the operator took $377,876 in wagers and generated $19,182 in revenue.

Betway appeared on the revenue report in July and will be in the mix again in September, but it ceased operations in the state on Aug. 31.

Three operators have exited and Sporttrade has entered the market, so there are currently 14 operators in the state.
