Fanatics Betting and Gaming has expanded its reach in Connecticut by opening its tenth retail sportsbook.

Fanatics Sportsbook serves as the Connecticut Lottery Corporations exclusive sports betting partner and its latest development is located at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport.

According to the release, the new location is more than 2,300 square feet and features betting windows, self-service betting kiosks from Suzohapp, high-definition TVs situated all around the sportsbook and a full-service restaurant.

The Total Mortgage Arena is home to the New York Islanders AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Islanders, as well as hosting other sporting events and concerts.

It follows the XL Center, home of the UConn Huskies, as the second sports venue in the state to have a retail Fanatics Sportsbook. Fanatics also has sports venue retail spots outside of Connecticut at Progressive Field, Nationwide Arena and FedExField.

Fanatics took over from Rush Street as Connecticut’s Lottery’s sports betting partner and launched in the state in December 2023. As well as its ten retail locations, Fanatics offers online wagering through its sportsbook app and website.

Fanatics and Mike Hermalyn hit back at DraftKings

The war of words between Fanatics VIP head Mike Hermanlyn and his former employer DraftKings continued last week.

In a filing made at the Massachusetts District Court, Hermalyn branded allegations that he stole DraftKings company data and tried to persuade colleagues to defect with him as an “attempt to create smoke where there is no fire” and an “unnecessary character assassination”.

DraftKings first filed a lawsuit against Hermalyn in early February claiming that their former employee downloaded highly confidential information and engaged in unethical and inappropriate behavior. It is also seeking to enforce a noncompete agreement and prevent its former employee from reaching out to DraftKings VIPs.

Hermalyn responded by describing the claims as “salacious allegations” while Fanatics say that this is “sour grapes” from DraftKings because its employee has chosen to move on to a competitor.
