BetMGM has moved to bolster its NBA offering at the start of the 2023/24 season by extending its partnership with Sportradar to include tracking data for the league.

Under the terms of the deal, Sportradar will provide BetMGM its NBA optical tracking data to help boost the operator’s offering on this season’s fixtures.

Consequently, BetMGM will be able to boost its NBA product offering by introducing improved player prop markets and sam-game parlays as well as enhanced in-play offers.

“Sportradar’s league data has enabled BetMGM to enhance our product offerings since we first partnered with them in 2018,” said BetMGM Chief Product Officer Jarrod Schwarz. “We expect the upcoming NBA season to be outstanding and look forward to leveraging this data for years to come.”

Sportradar’s optical tracking data offering for the NBA stems from its exclusive long-term partnership with the league. The two linked up in 2021 to increase their international exposure and create new immersive experiences for fans and bettors.

The deal, which was agreed in 2021, comes into effect this NBA season and allows Sportradar to offer tracking data as part of its package to operators. The sports tech firm also provides NBA betting data and live game video for international NBA fans.

In return for the long-term partnership and extended terms, the NBA has obtained an undisclosed equity stake in Sportradar.

Eduard Blonk, Chief Commercial Officer at Sportradar, said, “We’re pleased our value-add products and services will unlock the potential of NBA optical tracking data for BetMGM, while supporting the return-on-investment of our partnership with the NBA.”

The NBA and Sportradar relationship dates back to 2016, when the sports tech firm first obtained the rights to be the official real-time league statistics partner.
