BetMGM has stated that a technical issue that affected some customers’ access to their accounts has been resolved and was unrelated to the hack on MGM Resorts last month.
Yesterday it emerged on social media that users’ BetMGM accounts were “compromised” or that sensitive information had been taken. However, the sportsbook operator has now stated that the technical issue has been resolved.
BetMGM told LegalSportsReport: “We are aware of a technical issue earlier today that resulted in some customers experiencing delays or difficulty accessing their accounts. That issue has been resolved.”
Dozens of users reported issues on X, formerly Twitter, complaining of issues such as money disappearing from accounts, accounts being locked and their accounts being “compromised”.
The operator issued a general response to all complainants but, within hours, the glitch was solved and the operator noted that customers’ accounts should be back to normal.
BetMGM also told LSR that the issue was in no way related to the hack on MGM Resorts last month, which left the casino operator’s systems down for nearly two weeks.
MGM’s customer-facing operations are running normally again but there were concerns that sensitive information of MGM Rewards users could be compromised, leading some to worry that the BetMGM issue could be related.
But the sportsbook operator has quashed those fears, and noted that customers should not experience any further delays or difficulties.
