Betr is about to do a huge US rollout but it is not exactly what you might be expecting.

The upstart microbetting-focused sportsbook company will continue to offer sports betting in Massachusetts and Ohio as well as launch in Virginia later this year. However, the focus of the brand for football season will be on its new daily fantasy sports venture, Betr Picks.

Starting July 31, Betr Picks is now available in 24 US states. The product is located within the existing Betr app, which offers a free-to-play version of the sportsbook in every state but Nevada and Washington. Like the sportsbook app, the DFS offering is restricted to 21+ and will not allow credit card deposits. The app allows for debit cards, PayPal, and ACH deposits.

Other than the now-shuttered Monkey Knife Fight, which was purchased by Bally’s in 2021, sportsbook operators have generally stayed away from prop-style DFS products. While Bally’s did own the site, it was never integrated into Bally Bet sportsbook.

Users on Betr Picks can participate in what Betr terms “a differentiated pick’em experience” where they can choose more or less on a given player prop and enter a lineup of anywhere from two to eight players. Payouts can go as high as 100 times the entry fee if users can correctly predict eight outcomes.

“We are thrilled to expand the Betr Gaming business by introducing our real money fantasy sports vertical with the launch of Betr Picks,” said Betr CEO and Founder Joey Levy. “Betr Picks allows us to acquire and engage real money gaming users across the United States, enabling Betr Gaming to more fully capitalize on the nationwide presence of Betr Media for the first time, all while providing a complimentary pre-match experience to our in-play focused OSB product. We believe Betr Picks already features a strong core user experience relative to existing pick ‘em products, and we have several material enhancements that will be released over the coming weeks and months including more sports, game modes, media integrations, deposit and withdrawal capabilities, and more.”

Interestingly, Ohio and Massachusetts are not on the list of states where Betr Picks is available. The Betr Picks product is not currently available in any state where a license is required to offer DFS.

As part of the launch, Betr Picks will be offering a free-to-play game with $1 million in prizes centered around the upcoming boxing match between Betr frontman Jake Paul and Nate Diaz on Aug. 5. The picks game will work like the app itself where the more correct answers, the bigger the piece of the prize pool.

The recently purchased Chameleon platform from FansUnite has helped Betr speed up the rollout for the updates app. The press release for Betr Picks also noted that expanded sportsbook offerings, such as same game parlays and props, will eventually be available in an updated version of the sportsbook as well.
