OpenBet prepares for “landmark launch” with Massachusetts entry

OpenBet has marked its 18th state launch after announcing its debut in the Massachusetts sports betting market via a partnership with FanDuel

The Bay State is expected to open its doors to mobile sports betting from today, just ahead of March Madness.

As a result, OpenBet will roll out its same-game parlay product, powered by SportCast, to sportsbooks across the state – including BetMGM, DraftKings and WynnBET.

Cathryn Lai, Chief Commercial Officer at OpenBet, said: “It’s fantastic to see Massachusetts embrace mobile sports betting, bringing a new wave of entertainment to the state.

“We enjoyed an impressive launch in Ohio at the beginning of the year, and we’re pleased to be bringing our searing technology and same-game parlay products to Massachusetts sports fans in time for March Madness.

“The entire OpenBet team knows the important role they play in delivering success for our sportsbook customers. Massachusetts is no different, and we’re ready to hit the big stage as the state prepares for a landmark launch.”

OpenBet believes that the gross gaming revenue for the Massachusetts market “could reach the $500m mark after the first year of operation”, largely driven by the sports-centricity of the state.

With the state home to sports teams such as the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, analysts have suggested that Massachusetts could find itself “in the top 10 for sports betting handle and revenue”.
