Boyd Gaming Corporation has closed its deal to acquire Pala Interactive, including all its subsidiaries, for a deal worth $170m.

Previously owned by Pala Band of Mission Indians, Pala is an igaming software and services supplier that provides proprietary real money and social gaming solutions on both a B2B and B2C basis across US and Canadian regulated markets.

First announced in March, the deal was due to be completed in Q1 of 2023 but has come in before expectations, and Boyd now has control of the player account management system, casino, poker, and social casino and poker platforms.

Keith Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, said: “Online casino gaming is an attractive growth opportunity for our Company, and the acquisition of Pala Interactive provides us with the technology, products and expertise to create a profitable regional online casino business.

“We look forward to working with the Pala Interactive team in executing our online casino gaming strategy, which will complement our existing land-based operations and further expand our nationwide customer base.”

In Boyd’s Q3 earnings call last week, Smith outlined that its in-house Stardust Online Casino brand will move to the Pala platform in the first half of 2023. Meanwhile, all eyes are on growing its B2B arm.

He told investors: “We will also focus on growing Pala’s B2B business through acquiring new B2B customers and enhancing the platform’s products, features, and capabilities.

“We have the foundation, successfully building profitable regional online casino operations that leverages our experience, our existing geographic presence, and our proven customer database that will provide us the technology products and management expertise to execute this strategy.”
