The Playmaker team continues to grow with the appointment of Mike Stricoff as a new senior advisor. Stricoff has a storied background in sports content creation, previously working for MLB Network and FOX Sports before joining the Snap team in 2017. He previously served as the Senior Manager for Sports Partnerships for Snap, the parent company of Snapchat.

“Mike has an unbelievable knowledge base and network built up from his many years leading sports content at Snap,” said Playmaker CEO Brandon Harris. “He’s going to be able to offer a new, higher level perspective on our content strategy and open doors for us to create massive new partnerships.”

Stricoff will help build up Playmaker’s short-form video content division. The company currently has 30 different Snap Discover shows which generate a combined 50 million views per month. Given his background, Stricoff will obviously assist with Snap-related growth, but he will also help build up content for YouTube Shorts and TikTok.

“During my time at Snap, I watched Playmaker grow from having a few compelling sports shows on Discover to being a real force for creating excellent mobile-first content across verticals,” said Stricoff. “They have a talented team that understands young audiences and deploys innovative storytelling techniques in order to reach them. I am excited to help fuel their already impressive growth trajectory in any way that I can.”

Playmaker continues to scale and place increased focus on social media content. Social media is an increasingly important space for sports betting operators to convert users, and quality content is an important part of that process. Last month, Playmaker CRO David Woodley spoke with SBC Americas about the importance of social and content should California eventually legalize sports betting.
