Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has been awarded a supplier license for Ontario, granting it permission to begin partnerships with licensed operators in the newly regulated province.

A popular marketplace, Ontario is the most populous province in Canada and the opening of the regulated online sports betting and igaming market was a momentous milestone for the national gaming industry, with a flock of operators launching in the jurisdiction.

After receiving regulatory approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), GiG lauded its ‘early entrance’ to the market, having opened in just April of this year, and cited reports claiming that the market will grow to over $2bn in GGR over the next three years.

Claudio Caruana, General Counsel for the group, expressed his delight at securing a license for such a big jurisdiction: “In receiving the registration from the AGCO, we have reached another important milestone in our resolute commitment to supporting the igaming industry for regulated markets, and we’re delighted to be prepared to power new and potential partners in the province.”

This latest development ensures that GiG is operational in 22 legal markets and, with another four markets still awaiting regulatory approval, the firm believes it is on its way to becoming  ‘the technical supplier of choice’ for online sports betting and igaming operators.
