Key North Carolina Mobile Sports Wagering Bill Dies In House
After a dramatic, twist-filled Wednesday in the North Carolina House, the narrowest of votes late in the day all but erased hopes for the legalization of mobile sports betting in 2022.
Despite the legislature seemingly making progress toward legalization Wednesday morning and afternoon, including passing one sports wagering bill, SB 38, by a 51-50 margin, a second bill, SB 688, failed its second reading on the House floor by the same margin, 51-50 against.

Looks like Tanner Tolbert finally got his rose.
The former Bachelorette contestant who found himself — well, found his wife, Jade Roper Tolbert — stripped of a DraftKings million-dollar victory in the wild card round of the 2019 NFL playoffs took down the DraftKings U.S. Open Golf Millionaire Maker Sunday afternoon.
With the win, Tolbert brought home a million bucks (and then some, as he also had three other top 10 finishes) for his $15 entry.
Of course, nothing is official until Tolbert cashes the winnings, a lesson the former contestant of the ABC hit show found out the hard way a few years back.
