British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) has gained recognition this week for its approach to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The lottery corporation was recognized by HR Director Canada as a ‘5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer’ for its role in creating an ‘authentic’ inclusive workplace environment.

BCLC was the only Canadian organization with 200-2499 employees to earn recognition from the HR firm.

“As a social-purpose company, we work to generate win-wins for the greater good and fostering a more inclusive culture is an important part of how we do that for our people,” commented Sandy Austin, Interim Chief People Officer, BCLC.

“We are proud of what we have accomplished but acknowledge there is still progress to be made on our journey towards diversity, inclusion and belonging for all.”

BCLC has also earned other forms of recognition for its role in diversity and inclusion amongst its staff, picking up the title of Leading Diversity and Inclusion Employer by the Canadian HR Reporter last month.

The lottery implemented its diversity and inclusion policies in 2021 to support its core values – ‘respect, integrity and community’ – and has adopted a stance towards equity inclusion and anti-racism.
