FanDuel has taken another U.S. sports partnership across the finish line, securing a deal to become the first official North American betting operator of Formula 1.

Formula 1 said in a press release issued on Thursday that the partnership, its first with a U.S. sportsbook, reflects its intent to expand its betting portfolio. FanDuel will be able to offer numerous perks to its 17 million U.S. and Canadian customers through the deal, including:

  • Real-time insights and betting context throughout each race weekend
  • The ability to place a wide range of bets in-stream on the F1 app and website, including race winners, podium finishes, and head-to-head driver matchups, with more markets to be announced later this season
  • A content integration in Formula 1’s age-gated Betting Guide and editorial material across its website and app

Catering to a growing F1 audience

Formula 1 has struck betting-related deals in the U.S. before. In February 2025, it partnered with ALT Sports Data to use the California-based sports trading and consumer data company’s official betting data to drive growth and engagement. As part of the pact, ALT Sports Data develops real-time predictive analytics and priced odds solutions for sportsbooks that offer Formula 1 markets.

Formula 1 Director of Commercial Partnerships Jonny Haworth noted that the U.S. and Canada are markets with a growing Formula 1 fandom.

“As sports betting becomes an increasing component with how fans, especially in the U.S., interact with sport, it’s vital we have a strong and well-placed partner to deliver our strategy and fuel our momentum across the market,” Haworth added. “With tens of millions of fans across the country, FanDuel is yet another avenue that eligible fans can enjoy and experience the thrill of Formula 1.”

The partnership was announced just before F1 returns from a five-week break with the Miami Grand Prix on Sunday, the first race in North America in the 2026 season. FanDuel cannot offer sports betting in Florida, but its FanDuel Predicts prediction market platform does offer sports event contract trading in that state.

FanDuel Sportsbook Managing Director Karol Corcoran added that the official partnership marks the latest step in FanDuel’s efforts to enhance its sports betting platform to deliver more interactive experience for fans of various sports.

“Formula 1 generates an incredible amount of real-time data, and our platform is built to turn that into engaging betting opportunities for fans,” added Corcoran. “This partnership will allow us to deliver even more immersive, data-driven experiences throughout the race weekend.”

FanDuel’s prime sports positioning

The Formula 1 partnership adds to FanDuel’s long list of official sports affiliations in North America.

The U.S. market-leading sportsbook is already an official partner of the likes of:

  • The NBA and the WNBA
  • The NHL
  • The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL)
  • The PGA TOUR
  • The Canadian Football League (CFL)
  • Several North American pro sports teams

The Formula 1 deal is its second newly announced partnership just this week, after it was named the first-ever online betting and casino partner of Canada’s first WNBA franchise, the Toronto Tempo.
