Resorts World New York City announced on Tuesday that it will introduce the city’s first-ever live table games on April 28.
The Genting-owned company secured one of the three state licenses that were awarded by the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) in December for downstate casinos, along with Bally’s Bronx and Hard Rock International’s Metropolitan Park in Queens.
While those latter two are under construction as new facilities, processes that could take years, Resorts World has offered slot gaming at its Queens facility for years. The new license enables it to expand that venue to additionally offer live table games such as blackjack, craps, baccarat and roulette.
Resorts World hits the ground running
In a press release issued on April 21, Resorts World said it will immediately offer more than 240 table games, as well as more than 2,500 slot machines, on a “reimagined” third floor at the facility adjacent to the Aqueduct Racetrack. Resorts World said that the result will be the first commercial full-fledged casino in New York City’s history.
Genting Chairman KT Lim will be joined by hip-hop legend and New York City native Nas and various elected officials, community leaders and entertainers to cut the ribbon on the expanded Resorts World venue on April 28.
“New York City has never seen anything like what we’re planning for April 28,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “Once the Gaming Commission’s final testing is complete, live table games will be open and operating right here in Queens for the first time in the history of New York City. This is a transformational moment for Resorts World New York City, and we cannot wait to share it with our fellow New Yorkers.”

Nearly 1,000 tables games dealers hired
DeSalvio added that Resorts World now employs more than 2,200 people and has already doubled its workforce by creating 1,250 new jobs, including hiring 950 new table-game dealers to staff the new additions to the gaming floor. The company expects to hire thousands more team members as development on the integrated resort continues over the next three years.
Once the full casino project is completed, Resorts World expects to house 6,000 slot machines and 800 live table games, as well as increase the number of available hotel rooms from 400 at the Hyatt Regency hotel on-site to 2,000 across the entire integrated property. There are also designs for a 7,000-seat multi-purpose events hall.
More than 10 proposals were initially submitted as applications for one of the three downstate casino licenses, but the likes of Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts dropped out early, before the June 2025 deadline.
Others who applied included Caesars and MGM Resorts, although the latter withdrew its Yonkers proposal at a late stage in the process last October, citing shifted economic projections, strong competition in a small geographic area, and altered licensing parameters.
