DraftKings is diversifying its offerings with the launch of a historical wagering product.

The gaming giant debuted its DK Replay product in Oregon, providing residents of the Beaver State with the opportunity to wager on historical MLB betting markets.

DK Replay launched with regulatory approval from the Oregon Lottery as a product that allows DraftKings users in Oregon to wager on anonymized plate appearances from past seasons. DraftKings is eyeing additional U.S. gaming markets for potential expansion.

Oregon served as DraftKings’ market of choice to launch its new product, as the operator is the state’s only licensed online sports betting provider. In 2022, DraftKings launched operations in the state, replacing Scoreboard, a wagering platform powered by SBTech.

DK Replay could face regulatory pushback in markets outside of Oregon over wagering outcome concerns and its mechanism for providing online sports betting.

DK Replay requires quick decision-making

DK Replay is housed inside DraftKings’ new DraftKings Sports & Casino app.

The offering enables users to wager on pitcher versus batter matchups from past MLB games, with markets based on whether a pitch will be a ball, strike, or in-play. DK Replay also integrates a pitch clock and statistics from the unidentifiable pitchers and batters.

The key statistics include batting average, ERA and slugging percentage.

Each MLB player included in the pitcher versus batter matchups is graded based on performances from the original game. DK Replay grades the players with bronze, silver or gold ratings.

After users place their wagers, DK Replay reveals the actual outcome of the matchups while also disclosing the actual players involved from the original game.

“DK Replay offers a new experience for our customers, allowing them to tap into the excitement of pitch-by-pitch betting in a unique historical environment,” said DraftKings Chief Product Officer Corey Gottlieb. “With DK Replay, we’re able to offer an experience that will allow customers to enjoy their favorite sports no matter the time of year.”

New products from DraftKings

DK Replay adds to recent product launches from DraftKings.

Earlier this month, DraftKings launched DraftKings Sports & Casino as a new “super app” that houses the company’s online sportsbook, online casino, DraftKings Predictions and Jackpocket online lottery operations. It continues to operate its standalone DFS app.

The app integrates iGaming, sports betting and event contract trading in a single platform with one active account and wallet for players. DraftKings’ tech stack ensures the app’s offerings are compliant with regulations and rules in each U.S. jurisdiction it serves.

DraftKings Predictions offers event contract trading in 47 states. DraftKings offers online sports betting in 26 states and Washington, D.C. In markets where it does not offer state-sanctioned sports wagering, it delivers sports event contracts via DraftKings Predictions.

Hard Rock Bet’s historical gaming product

DK Reply leverages historical MLB games to provide a new offering, in a similar fashion to how Hard Rock Bet delivers a wagering product powered by historical NASCAR races.

Last October, Hard Rock Bet soft-launched Games, a slot-style online wagering platform that allows users to bet against the house using data from past NASCAR races. The product is only available in Florida under a gaming compact that allows Hard Rock to provide online wagering in the state as an exclusive online gambling operator. The gaming compact authorizes Hard Rock to offer online wagering tied to historical sporting events.

Games initially launched with 21 slot-style gaming titles that use past NASCAR data to generate results. The product applies the same house rules as Hard Rock’s sportsbook.
