Fanatics Betting and Gaming has partnered with betting technology provider OpenBet to launch the supplier’s suite of geolocation, fraud prevention, AML and responsible gaming tools on its sportsbook platform.
Fanatics Sportsbook will deploy OpenBet’s full Protect Suite, which includes OpenBet Locator and the AI-enhanced responsible gaming and AML platform Neccton.
“The OpenBet Locator and Neccton products deliver a secure and frictionless experience for our customers,” said Fanatics Chief Business Officer Ari Borod. “When we launched, we stated that our intention would be to innovate on the tech side, and we have now delivered two critical integrations in Neccton and OpenBet Locator to enhance our player protection framework and our geolocation needs.”
Rollout reflects Fanatics’ expansion
Fanatics Sportsbook now operates in 22 U.S. states plus D.C., a geographical spread that the operator said exposes it to close to 95% of the total addressable online sports betting market. It most recently launched online and retail sports betting in Missouri when that state opened its market on Dec. 1.
This compliance and RG tech rollout with OpenBet reflects that expansion, as Fanatics continues to reach across the country and compete to be the No. 3 mobile sportsbook in the U.S.
As it grows and expands across borders, it needs more robust compliance tools to ensure it keeps up with the pace of regulatory change and satisfies each individual state’s specific requirements.
‘Pivotal milestone’ for OpenBet
OpenBet supplies technology, content, player protection and geolocation services with more than 200 betting and gaming brands globally. Its Protect Suite is intended to help operator partners streamline their regulatory processes across multiple jurisdictions and strengthen their compliance protocols and safeguards.
Locator provides precise and rapid verification of players’ locations and also supports fraud prevention by validating betting activity in real time. Meanwhile, Neccton uses machine learning to monitor behaviour and transaction patterns, enabling earlier identification of customers who may be at risk or showing unusual or potentially problematic activity and allowing operators and their monitoring partners to intervene.
OpenBet CEO Jordan Levin said the launch with Fanatics represents “a pivotal milestone” for his company.
“Fanatics’ collaborative approach and operational agility made it possible to implement two advanced systems in record time,” added Levin. “This dual integration sets a new industry standard for responsible gaming, AML detection and geolocation compliance. It demonstrates what’s possible when two technology-driven organizations align around a shared vision of trust, safety, and player experience.”
Fanatics broadening horizons, in more ways than one
Fanatics has expanded its sports betting footprint greatly both during and since its takeover of PointsBet’s U.S. assets, and it describes itself as America’s fastest-growing sports betting platform.
While the OpenBet deal concerns only its sportsbook, the gaming arm of the historic merchandise and apparel company has taken strides in 2025 outside of sports wagering.
The company also offers online casino iGaming in four states and launched a standalone Fanatics Casino app in May in all of Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
And, of course, Fanatics is also now a prediction markets operator. Fanatics Markets, the first separate prediction market product launched by a sportsbook, went live in early December in 10 states. The plan is for it to ultimately operate in a total of 24. Fanatics’ initial predictions states are mainly jurisdictions with no sports betting of any kind and scant online gambling options.
