EPIC Global Solutions has landed a deal to provide gambling harm awareness training to Underdog employees.
The gambling harm consultancy partnered with Underdog to host a series of workshops and training sessions to provide employees with the tools to identify problematic gambling behavior. Underdog has already leveraged EPIC’s expertise in gambling harm by hosting sessions led by EPIC staff. The sessions provided Underdog employees with training on communication practices and how to build healthy relationships with customers.
“We’re very pleased with the positive start to our working relationship with Underdog,” said EPIC VP of North America Teresa Fiore. “They have a deep understanding that responsible gaming practices must be at the core for any major operator, and it’s a constant and consistent process of learning and attentiveness.”
EPIC provided Underdog with training sessions that included consultant and former college basketball star Stevin “Hedake” Smith. The former Arizona State guard joined EPIC in July 2024 to provide education and training on gambling harm and its consequences. Smith advocates for responsible gaming after being involved in a point-shaving scandal during his time as an Arizona State athlete. The scandal led to Smith’s arrest and a brief prison stint.
Underdog is bolstering its RG efforts as it continues to scale operations.
The New York-based operator announced a Series C funding round in March that will give the company a pre-money valuation of $1.2 billion. The round, led by Spark Capital, is expected to exceed $100 million. It comes after Underdog closed a Series B round in 2022.
The Series B round valued Underdog at $485 million.
EPIC soldifies footprint in DFS
EPIC’s partnership with Underdog follows a partnership with PrizePicks forged in 2024.
The partnership also sees EPIC provide the DFS operator with employee training and presentations from its team of RG experts. In addition to training, EPIC provided PrizePicks with an organizational assessment that identified areas for improvement in RG.
