VIP Play looks set to take its ZenSports brand outside Tennessee for the first time after receiving an interim license to offer sports betting and online casino gaming in West Virginia.

Via a market access deal with Delaware North’s Wheeling Island Casino, VIP Play now has the right to expand into its second U.S. state. It could also feasibly launch online casino gaming for the first time, although the company did not confirm whether it intends to do so.

ZenSports is currently available as a mobile sportsbook in Tennessee, having entered the Volunteer State in August 2023. There, it offers not only sports wagering but also the VIP Players Club Sweepstakes, a sweepstakes-style promotion that is exclusive to Tennessee sports bettors.

VIP Play said in a statement that it expects to begin serving West Virginia customers in the coming months. That state is the smallest American online casino market that is open to multiple commercial operators.

“The acquisition of our interim Sports Wagering and iGaming license in West Virginia marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand, underscoring our commitment to provide innovative experiences to a wider audience,” said VIP Play CEO and chairman Bruce Cassidy.

“As we grow our presence, our dedication to excellence stands firm, and we’re excited to play a role in enriching West Virginia’s dynamic gaming community.”

Kambi helps ZenSports revamp platform

VIP Play’s ZenSports platform is powered by Kambi and White Hat Gaming.

The operator announced a multi-year online partnership with Kambi in November, wherein it utilizes the European company’s turnkey sportsbook technology solution. With Kambi’s help and expertise, ZenSports undertook a complete overhaul of its online sportsbook platform.

Kambi said at the time that it intended to provide its solutions to ZenSports in additional markets in the future.
