In the lead-up to Sunday’s Super Bowl, media and sports betting company Betr posted and subsequently deleted a video in which co-founder Jake Paul offered a Ferrari to Saquon Barkley if the Philadelphia Eagles running back won MVP in the game.

“This is a message for Saquon Barkley, and Saquon Barkley only,” Paul said in the video posted on Jan. 25 on Betr’s social media accounts. “… I will give you one of my Ferraris if you win Super Bowl MVP. Come on, baby. Download Betr.”

The video vanished from Betr’s social media over the weekend after a state regulator intervened.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission’s (OCCC) General Counsel Andromeda Morrison told SBC Americas that after reviewing the video, the Commission determined that the advertisement was not in compliance with its sports betting regulations.

“As is common practice, the Commission reached out to Betr to ask them to remediate the non-compliant material,” added Morrison. “Betr has complied with the request.”

SBC Americas reached out to Betr’s representatives for comment.

Betr operates its Betr Picks fantasy sports offering in 33 U.S. states plus D.C. and is licensed as an online sportsbook in both Ohio and Virginia.

A Virginia Lottery spokesperson told SBC Americas separately that while the Lottery had no statement on the matter, “this circumstance is not prohibited under Virginia’s sports wagering regulations.”

Betr strikes betting monitoring deal with IC360

A couple of days before Betr pulled the video of Paul’s offer to Barkley, Integrity Compliance 360 (IC360) announced it has partnered with the Florida-based company on betting integrity.

IC360’s monitoring dashboard tracks potentially suspicious betting activity and provides real-time alerts to operators. Betr will also leverage IC360’s ProhiBet platform, which is designed to prevent athletes and team personnel from participating in illicit gambling activities and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Betr Head of Product Alex Ursa said the deal ensures Betr “remains at the forefront of creating a secure, transparent, and trustworthy betting environment for all our users.”
