Playtech is undergoing leadership changes with Chairman Brian Mattingley relinquishing his role with the company later this year, according to a Sky News report.
The British software and services supplier for the gaming industry has announced the departure of Mattingley as Chair ending a nearly four-year run at Playtech for the former 888 Holdings CEO and Chair. Mattingley is stepping down as Playtech Chair to retire.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve as Chair of Playtech and to help steward the company through an important phase of growth and transition,” said Mattingley. “I am proud of the milestones we have achieved as Playtech prepares to embark on a new chapter as a predominantly pure-play B2B business. It is with that in mind that I feel now is the right time to step down. I would like to thank my fellow board members, the leadership team and, above all, the wider Playtech family.”
Mattingley, who joined Playtech in 2021, will remain at the gaming services supplier for the coming months while overseeing the transition process of the board’s restructuring.
The industry veteran has relinquished his role amid the sale of Snaitech, Playtech’s Italian B2C business, to Flutter in a deal valued at roughly $2.8 billion. The deal, which is expected to close in fiscal Q2, has received backlash from a small group of shareholders over bonuses paid to executives following the announcement of the transaction. Despite the pushback, shareholders voted to approve a $103 million executive bonus package.
Playtech prepares for more changes
The departure of Mattingley adds to forthcoming changes for Playtech in 2025.
The London-based company is planning to merge its Regulatory & Compliance and Sustainability & Public Policy Committees to streamline operations while also making personnel changes to its Nomination and Remuneration Committees.
In the U.S. Playtech has secured deals with bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings, Golden Nugget, Ocean Casino, PENN Entertainment and Rush Street Interactive. As a result, it has a solidified a footprint in Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
