Rush Street Interactive (RSI) has elected Golden Nugget Online Gaming founder Thomas Winter to its board of directors.

Winter has taken up his position as non-executive director effective Dec. 16. His appointment expands Chicago-headquartered RSI board’s membership to nine.

Formerly, the CEO and Director of European online betting and gaming operator Betclic and its brand Expekt, Winter founded Golden Nugget in 2013. After the company went public and was acquired by DraftKings for $1.5 billion in May 2022., Winter became general iGaming manager for North America until September 2023.

Golden Nugget noted that Winter is a seasoned executive in online gambling and will bring extensive experience to the board.

“We are thrilled to welcome Thomas to our board,” said RSI CEO Richard Schwartz. “His proven track record in the online gaming industry and his strategic vision will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint and enhance our offerings. We look forward to his contributions and are confident that his expertise will help drive our future success.”

Winter has also served as a senior adviser and board member at online casino supplier Awager since October.

Winter follows new Rush Street COO and CMO in through the door

Winter’s appointment comes four months after Rush Street Gaming appointed hospitality veteran Cliff Ehrlich as chief operating officer in August.

Ehrlich takes over from retiring COO Bill Keena. Last year, Rush Street brought Brian Sapp into the newly created role of chief marketing officer.

At the start of November, RSI detailed quarterly record revenues and Adjusted EBITDA. Revenues were up 37% year over year to $232 million. Schwartz put the growth down to “our unique products and engaging user experience, which fosters loyal customers and drives growth and profitability,” as well as efficient marketing spend.

RSI expects a revenue midpoint of $910 million for 2024 and an adjusted EBITDA midpoint of roughly $84 million.
