An unwanted trespasser in the company’s Pennsylvania live dealer studio ended up costing Evolution $7,500.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board agreed to the fine with the games studio after a January 2023 incident where a man managed to circumvent several security checkpoints in order to enter the Philadelphia-area studio.

According to testimony at a recent PGCB meeting, the man got through a number of security checks, never formally signed in and eventually made his way to the women’s locker room area. He was on property for roughly 17 minutes.

Once inside he began to “inappropriately touch himself” as well as make many inappropriate comments. The female dealers in the locker room left the area and security was notified and proceeded to escort the man off the property. Evolution staffers called the police but they failed to obtain the man’s name. The suspect was never apprehended.

Evolution changed several things in wake of incident

Per PGCB regulations, all visitors are expected to sign in at the studios when visiting and obtain and wear a name badge while on the premises. Because security did not stop the man and these protocols did not happen, it is a regulatory violation for the group.

“We acknowledge that there were significant security breaches based on a combination of human error, failure to follow procedures and it was also exacerbated by a layout where there was room for improvement,” a lawyer for Evolution told PGCB last week.

The company said they have revised the building layout in the wake of the incident. Evolution also switched security companies in the fall of last year.

Evolution dealing with ongoing labor issues in Europe

Elsewhere, Evolution is experiencing other issues with its workforce. The company recently laid off more than 1,000 workers at its Georgia live dealer facility amid an ongoing labor strike.

The issues in Europe could cross the pond, as the NI-Gaming and UNITE-HERE Culinary Local 226 filed a complaint with the Nevada Gaming Commission in solidarity with their peers. Evolution does not operate in Nevada nor does it have an application on file for a license.
