ESG initiatives highlighted in latest IGT sustainability report

IGT is maintaining its commitment to Environmental, Societal, and Governance (ESG) policies and initiatives according to the company’s latest sustainability report.

The London-based gaming giant released on Wednesday its 2023 Sustainability Report, marking the 17th edition of the annual review. IGT, which has a presence in more than 100 markets, builds its ESG framework on four key pillars: valuing and protecting our people, advancing responsibility, supporting our communities, and fostering sustainable operations.

“The 2023 IGT Sustainability Report highlights our ongoing global sustainability initiatives that endeavor to positively impact our people and our planet, as we continue to demonstrate measurable progress towards our Sustainable Play initiatives,” said IGT CEO Vince Sadusky. “Since we published our first sustainability report 17 years ago, the great people of IGT continue to propel our initiatives forward by making sustainability an important part of their professional and personal lives.”

In 2023, IGT bolstered its ESG efforts by launching its Sustainable Play program creating the basis for its four key pillars. The global program aligns with UN Sustainable Goals and aims to create a new standard for key stakeholders in the gaming industry.

IGT invests in its workforce

According to data provided by the Global Reporting Initiative, IGT generated $4.31 billion in economic value in 2023 compared to $4.22 billion for the year prior. The company saw $3.87 billion in economic value distributed last year compared to $3.75 billion in 2022.

Its value to employees reached $1.19 million in 2023, up from $1.16 million in 2022.

IGT has also garnered buy-in with its workforce after receiving the Top Employer certification in 2023 for its operations across the U.S., Canada and Italy. The company has created a safe work environment by also being awarded the top score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. IGT received the score for its promotion and implementation of LGBTQ+ workplace equality policies and standards.

Communities gain IGT support

IGT also invests in local communities through its Community Giving and Engagement Policy, which receives oversight from the company’s Social Impact Committee. In 2023, IGT provide STEAM through its flagship philanthropic program, After School Advantage (ASA), by opening 15 new labs. To date, IGT has opened 350 technology labs for its ASA program.

IGT is also protecting its players and their communities through fighting climate change.

It was validated in 2023 by the Science Based Targets Initiative, a group that includes CDP, the United Nations Global Compact and the World Wide Fund for Nature.

The initiative recognized IGT’s goal to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

IGT builds business

The British company has reiterated its commitment to ESG while scaling its operations.

Earlier this week, IGT announced that its subsidiary IGT Global Solutions Corporation landed a five-year deal with the Colorado Lottery to provide products and solutions. IGT has also signed new deals with the Virginia Lottery and the Mississippi Lottery in 2024.
