Resorts World Las Vegas has confirmed that President and CEO Scott Sibella has left his role with immediate effect after violating company policy.

Without delving into specific incidents or examples, Resorts World stated that Sibella had broken the terms of his employment with his conduct and would therefore leave the firm with immediate effect.

“Resorts World Las Vegas today (Friday) announced that President and Chief Operating Officer Scott Sibella has left the company, effective immediately,” Resorts World stated. “This action comes after the company was recently made aware that Mr. Sibella violated company policies and the terms of his employment.”

Sibella had been CEO and President of the establishment since it opened on the Las Vegas strip back in 2021 and had led the growth of the destination in the last two years.

An experienced Vegas operator, he had previously spent eight years at the MGM Grand but was the subject of a Nevada Gaming Control Board investigation for potentially working with illegal gamblers in the state.

He was cleared by the NCGB, as per the Las Vegas Review Journal, and Resorts World has not disclosed whether Sibella’s departure is in relation to this incident or another breach of contract.

Sibella has now departed Resorts World and has been replaced by Peter LaVoie, who had previously served as the firm’s SVP and COO. He has also been the CFO at Resorts World.

The statements continued: “Peter LaVoie, most recently the company’s senior vice president and chief operating officer, will serve as president. Peter’s extensive experience and expertise make him the right person to lead Resorts World Las Vegas through this transition.”

LaVoie too has spent time with the MGM Grand previously in his career, where he was both SVP and CFO of the Las Vegas strip property before moving to Resorts World in March 2020.

An experienced Las Vegas executive and a UNLV graduate, LaVoie was also the VP/CFO at the Excalibur/Luxor properties from 2013-2016.
