Pennsylvania’s gaming market once again enjoyed a strong month of activity in July, with the online casino sector providing a significant boost to growth.

As per the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the gaming sector as a whole reported revenue of $467m, marking annual growth of 8.9%.

Online casino operators provided the vast majority of this increase, with revenues of $132.9m climbing 35% year-over-year. This was broken down into $94.9m in online slot revenue, with $35.4m in revenue from online table games and $2.6m from online poker.

Per operator, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course provided the bulk of the revenue during July and was the clear market leader, generating $54.4m in revenue. In second place was Valley Forge Casino Resort, which yielded $29.2m from online revenue, whilst Rivers Casino Philadelphia rounded off the top three, making $26.8m

No other online casino operator made more than $6m in July.

The largest contributor of revenue in the Keystone State was once again land-based casino slots, which provided $214.7m in revenue, though this was flat on an annual basis. Meanwhile, retail table games declined 3.8% YoY, making $94.9m for casino operators.

On the sports betting side of the industry, operators handled $338.5m last month, which remained flat YoY as the market remains quiet during this period of the year.

However, operators did a better job at holding as revenue jumped 26% YoY, reaching $32.1m. This marks a hold rate of 9.5%.

FanDuel remains the market leader in Pennsylvania as it handled $127.6m last month, with DraftKings in second place handling $88.9m in bets. The top three was rounded off by BetMGM which handled $24.6m.
