They may be drawing criticism from outlets like the Wall Street Journal, but props-focused DFS sites continue to roll out the announcements in advance of football season.
The latest news from PrizePicks comes as the USWNT advanced to the Round of 16 to the Women’s World Cup. On Tuesday, the group announced a partnership with the National Women’s Soccer League’s (NWSL) North Carolina Courage. It is the first partnership with the NWSL and a fantasy site.
The news comes on the heels of PrizePicks joining Sports Innovation Lab’s Women’s Sports Club powered by Ally. The company has made it clear that helping to support women’s sports is an important focus for the company.
“I want to thank the Women’s Sports Club for their continued mission to increase investment in women’s sports and for helping spark this first-of-its-kind partnership with the NC Courage,” said PrizePicks Co-Founder and CEO Adam Wexler. “It is no secret that women’s sports are on a major rise, particularly evident by the strong viewership in this year’s Women’s World Cup. We pride ourselves on being innovative and hope that others in the sports entertainment industry will follow our commitment to investment in women’s sports.”
“The growth of professional women’s sports and the intentional investment by corporate partners go hand-in-hand. PrizePicks’ commitment to the Women’s Sports Club demonstrates a clear understanding of this importance and we are delighted to associate with a company that values the growth of the Courage and women’s sports across the board. We look forward to a fruitful partnership that will benefit all parties in both the short and long term,” added Courage president Francie Gottsegen.
The partnership is also in a state that will be rolling out regulated sports betting at the start of 2024.
The scope of the partnership will include joint social and marketing promotion and PrizePicks will offer contests involving the league.
