As the SBC Summit North America approaches its third edition, OpenBet is gearing up for the event with its final preparations. Deb Krupinski, Vice President of Commercial for OpenBet in the US, shares her expectations for the summit and offers a glimpse into the company’s plans for the future.

What are your expectations for the upcoming third edition of SBC Summit North America?

The SBC Summit North America is a premier platform for industry players to come together and discuss the latest trends, opportunities, and challenges facing the sports betting sector in North America. With each passing year, the event has grown significantly, and we expect the third edition to be even more impressive. As a leading player in the world of sports betting entertainment, we are excited to attend this event once again and connect with our partners and with other stakeholders within the industry.

Our team of experts will be located at the OpenBet sponsored sports bar, which will serve as an open-plan networking hub for delegates. We look forward to engaging with our industry peers and showcasing our market-leading and flexible proposition that is utilized by the biggest sportsbook brands across the globe. The range of technology, content, and services includes our highly robust and versatile sports betting engine, customisable front-end solution, same-game parlays product powered by SportCast, and sophisticated Player Account Management system.

At OpenBet, we are proud to provide bespoke options that allow our partners to differentiate their offerings and scale with ease. We are eager to discuss these solutions and how they can benefit commercial operators, tribes and lotteries at the event. So, if you’re attending the SBC Summit North America, make sure to stop by the OpenBet sports bar and chat with our team to learn more about how we can help you take your business to the next level.

It’s been a busy period of commercial growth for OpenBet, including your entry into Massachusetts. What’s the engagement been like since the market opened in March?

We successfully launched our platform in Massachusetts on the same day that mobile betting went live in the state. Massachusetts is known for its rich sporting history, being home to major teams like the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Celtics. We are proud to already power the biggest brands across the US, and Massachusetts is no different. FanDuel is now live in the state with our technology, marking the 19th US launch with the leading brand.

Local bettors in Massachusetts are now enjoying a seamless betting experience across a wide variety of markets and events, including the big six US sports, thanks to OpenBet’s powerful platform technology. In addition, our pioneering same-game parlay products, powered by SportCast, are proving to deliver truly memorable betting experiences for sports fans across a host of sportsbooks including DraftKings, BetMGM, and WynnBET. We remain vigilant in monitoring the latest regulatory developments and are always prepared for new launches as soon as new markets receive approval.

The conference takes place at the same time as the fifth anniversary of PASPA being struck down. How would you assess the progress that has been made so far?

I doubt anyone thought we’d be where we are today just five years after the Supreme Court struck down PASPA. With over three dozen states having legalized sports betting, the growth has been incredible and there is much more to go. The key now is the long-term sustainability of the sports betting market in the US – creating environments where sports books can thrive and where consumers know they are protected. And that means several things. First and foremost, responsible gaming. With the rapid expansion of new forms of gaming, it is critical that the industry also provides cutting-edge tools so consumers enjoy betting on the sports they love safely. Secondly, it means safety of the data and information. With over 90% of sports bets being placed online, it is critical that the technology processing that consumer data and financial information uses best-in-class data security and privacy. And thirdly, working with teams and leagues to continue to protect the integrity of the games we all love. So far, we’re seeing great progress in all these areas, and OpenBet plans to lead the way on providing the safest experience for our partners and their customers.
