Betfred has entered its ninth US state after launching its online sportsbook capabilities in Virginia.
It marks another milestone in the US for Betfred, after it has executed a period of expansion in the country this year.
Last week, it secured regulatory approval to enter the Nevada sports betting market, operating the Virgin Casino retail sportsbook in Las Vegas after a dormant two years.
Betfred also secured market access in the Ohio sports betting market in January after the Buckeye State went live with legalized wagering.
The Virginia entry follows a partnership that the UK-headquartered sportsbook signed with USL Championship soccer franchise Loudoun United in December as its official sportsbook partner.
“We are excited to finally begin online operations in the Commonwealth of Virginia and look forward to activating our partnership with Loudoun United,” stated Bryan Bennett, COO of Betfred USA Sports.
“This is the ideal time to launch sports betting with several major sporting events happening over the coming weeks and months, and of course with the USL Championship season kicking off soon.”
The deal sees Betfred become the back-of-jersey sponsor for Loudoun’s home and away jerseys from the 2023 USL Championship season with further brand activations planned in the future.
“We’re excited to introduce the Red-and-White Community to our sports betting partner, Betfred,” said Doug Raftery, Loudoun United FC Executive Business Officer. “You can expect to see a prominent presence from Betfred at home games and various online club channels. We look forward to a fantastic 2023 season and helping to scale our business together.”
