Betfred has signed a multi-year agreement to become the official sports betting partner of soccer franchise Loudoun United FC as the firm prepares to launch its mobile sportsbook in Virginia

Launching in Virginia in early 2023, the UK-based operator will become the back-of-jersey sponsor for Loudoun’s home and away jerseys from the 2023 USL Championship season with further brand activations planned in the future.

“Our partnership with Betfred enables us to enhance the fan experience and helps provide additional opportunities to engage with our ever-growing Red-and-White Community,” said Doug Raftery, Loudoun United FC Executive Business Officer. “We look forward to working with Betfred to create a great environment on and off the field for seasons to come.”

Betfred currently has a presence in eight US states including Virginia, with a further mobile launch expected next year. It holds a presence in Louisiana, which this week revealed the damage caused by Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McInvale’s recent $75m win on the Astros last month.

It also anticipates launches in both Ohio and Nevada in the coming months, pending regulatory approval.

“Betfred has a long history of successful sponsorships of soccer clubs in the UK, and we couldn’t be more excited to enter into our first partnership in the US with Loudoun United,” explained Bryan Bennett, COO of Betfred USA Sports.

“The club has built a solid foundation over the last four years, and we look forward to a long partnership to build the Loudoun United fanbase and Betfred Sportsbook in Virginia over the coming years.”
