GeoComply has been awarded a tier-one license to bring its geolocations and ID verification services to Maryland when the state goes live with sports betting.

Expanding its services across the US, GeoComply will now be able to supply its geolocation ID verification and fraud detection and prevention services to regulated operators in Maryland once sports betting launches in the state.

Maryland is aiming to launch sports betting before the end of the year after the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission (MLGCC) approved ten operators for licenses.

SWARC will meet on November 21 to go over the recommendations by the MLGCC.

GeoComply’s SVP of Compliance, Lindsay Slader, said: “We are very excited about the launch of Maryland’s highly anticipated mobile sports betting market. Our team has worked hard to meet Maryland’s rigorous standards.

“Having our license in hand means that our customers can launch with confidence on day one. We look forward to supporting the compliance needs of operators and providing state regulators with tools and data so they can properly oversee the growth of mobile sports betting in Maryland.”

GeoComply will also launch its services in Ohio when the state launches on Jan 1 after receiving a conditional license from the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
